What is your CrossFit story?

I had just turned 40 and decided that I had to do something. I was 50 pounds overweight but could run a half marathon. Just running and eating whatever was not working. I decided to try CrossFit because I saw the gym on my way home from work every day. I immediately loved the challenge of the workouts and that they were different every day. It wasn't boring. I took the high protein, low carb nutrition plan to heart. I lost 50 pounds in the first 5 months but more importantly I felt way better and had more energy than I had experienced in years. I was hooked and still feel the same way today. I still love the challenge and appreciate that there are so many things for me to work on to be a better athlete.

What is your favorite part about coaching?

I love seeing athletes overcome obstacles and the beaming smiles on their faces when they do so. Melts my heart every time!

Favorite movement?

Running!!! Burpess over the barbell and handstand push-ups are pretty cool too.

What's your favorite quote?

"You can't out exercise bad nutrition" - I'm not sure who coined this phrase but it is so true. I think this has contributed the most to the gains that I have made. Getting to the gym and working out is easy compared to dialing in nutrition and changing bad eating habits.
