What is your CrossFit story?
Like many, I was skeptical about starting CrossFit. My husband was working as a trainer at a local affiliate at the time and had been trying to convince me to try it for a while. I gave him the usual answers, “I’m scared I’ll get hurt.”, “I’m not good enough.”, “it’s not a good fit for my goals.”. But all of those turned out to be false, and trying CrossFit was the best decision I ever made. My only regret was not trying it sooner! I waited until my mid-thirties to get into the best shape of my life. Since starting CrossFit I have lost 30 pounds and over 10% body fat, and accomplished countless feats that I never would have thought possible. Before starting CrossFit I had been mostly physically inactive for 10 years. I was thin and appeared healthy, but in reality I lacked the strength and flexibility to even properly execute an air squat. I quickly got hooked on CrossFit because of how strong CrossFit made me feel, and how it made me view my body. For the first time in my life I learned to view my body’s worth for what it’s capable of, not the number on the scale, or the reflection in the mirror. I was a competitive swimmer for over 10 years growing up. CrossFit has filled that competitive void that I had been lacking since I stopped swimming.
What is your favorite part about coaching?
The look on someone’s face when they accomplish something they didn’t think was possible. I also love to watch people fall in love with the sports of CrossFit and Olympic Weightlifting the same way I did!

Any advice for beginners?
Don’t ever compare yourself to anyone else. The only person you should compare yourself to is you from yesterday.
