What is your fitness story?

I started my fitness journey with a VHS tape! Home workouts led to taking some group fitness classes. I fell in love with the energy that the group fitness classes created and decided that’s what I wanted to do! Instead of following the path to become a PE teacher, I decided to focus on group fitness and personal/small group training.

Besides training clients, I have taught Body Conditioning, Spin, Step Aerobics, Mat Pilates, Aqua Aerobics, Zumba, Aqua Zumba, Zumbatomic, Ripped and MetCon classes! All of them are/were fun, but after a couple of years, I found that I needed something that was just for me/myself. So I started running. I really liked the way running made my body feel and was hooked! Over the course of the years, I ran many, many miles. 5 marathons, lots of half marathons, 10 milers, 10k’s, 5k’s, a bunch in between mile races, & even a few trail races! During that time I also dabbled with mountain biking. I’d find a couple of hours, a few days a week, to sneak over to Fantasy Island to ride the loop in between teaching classes and training clients. Fitness was (is), my happy place, my life.

Seven plus years ago, I decided to try this thing I had heard about called CrossFit. One class, fell in love HARD, and never looked back since. After 6 months of Cross-fitting, I decided to get my L1 Cert. It made perfect sense to me to add it to everything I was already teaching/leading on a daily basis. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made! Coaching people is the funnest part of my day. I love fitness-ing and helping others to love it too.

Favorite movement?

Hard to choose, but I’ll go with double unders. I love how fast, smooth and graceful they are.

Any advice for beginners?

Enjoy your 1st year & use your app! It’s a tremendous help when deciding weights/scales/mods! It’s also nice to look back and see how far you’ve progressed along the weeks/months/years.
